Padang, (ANTARA) - Kebijakan Pemerintah Pusat untuk tidak memperpanjang izin realisasi impor beras termasuk penghapusan bea masuk impor beras pada April 2011 diperkirakan tidak berdampak signifikan terhadap ketahanan pangan di Sumatera Barat.

"Pengahapusan bea masuk impor beras diyakini tidak akan menggangu ketahanan pangan di Sumbar, bahkan stok beras di gudang Bulog Sumbar dapat mencukupi kebutuhan hingga beberapa bulan ke depan," kata Pemimpin BI Padang Romeo Rissal di Padang, Sabtu

Menurut dia, kebijakan pemerintah tersebut bahkan tidak akan menggangu ketersediaan beras di Sumbar apalagi masa panen padi di beberapa wilayah sentra produksi di Sumbar pun telah dimulai.Berdasarkan ARAM I-2011, katanya menyebutkan, produksi padi pada triwulan II-2011 diperkirakan mengalami peningkatan.
